Burley Park Flea Market Part 3

It's been so long since I have posted. There were some really cool items that were at the flea market that I didn't buy!

I have an obsession with clocks, I couldn't buy this one though, I already have a couple like this one.

A cool UFO pull down lamp. I have always wanted one, but this one was priced a little high.

So the lucite swag lamp is cool enough, but check out that table... A guitar pick shape? I should have bought it, I want two matching ones though. Watch me never see another again.

If there were two of these shades I would have scooped them up in a heartbeat, I need a couple for my "new" lamps!

An amazing corningware coffee pot, I love the starburst pattern. It was a little pricey but again I should have scooped it up.

Yes... Another clock, I have never seen one like this. But again the price... A whopping $23 was a little high especially with a chip in it.

Today, I visited the local thrift shops and guess what I found? Next post it will be revealed. Amazing deal... Amazing piece of FURNITURE.

Burley Park Flea Market Part 2

I still wish I would have found some great furniture, but the small items I got were pretty much steals. I think so anyways. I have very interesting taste.

I bought this cool little planter, it was on a half off table. I'm not exactly sure what kind of pottery it is, but it does say 1968 on the bottom!

I also bought this pot, it was cheap, and I have the thing for this swirly pattern....

Yep, I have a thing for that swirly pattern.

I also bought this olive/relish tray. It had the original box, which is always a good thing and a selling point for me. It has a wooden base with the original tag on it. I doubt this has ever been used. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep this piece or not.

This was hands down my favorite find. Of course I will get some different pots for it, it's very cool looking. I had many compliments on it as I was carrying it through the flea market.

Part 3 will feature a few more items I thought were awesome, but of course I think conservatively!

Burley Park Flea Market Part 1

This flea market is the flea market that I wait for throughout the year. They have it on Memorial Day and then on Labor Day. I believe there may be one in October too. It's the largest I have ever been to. I found a few smalls today, not a huge selection of MCM sadly. I will just post some of the items I saw for right now.

A very cool old salon chair.

Next up, Fiesta. There was even more next to me in a walk in trailer with tons and tons of shelves. I love Fiesta.

They had interesting pieces I had never even seen before, like this three tier server.

They even sported Halloween themed Fiesta! Which again I had never seen, and I'm a Fiesta enthusiast.

From Fiesta to Tupperware, there were two stalls in the flea market devoted entirely to Tupperware, this one being the SMALLER one. I never knew Tupperware released so many different tubs and utensils and gadgets.

This was at a different stall, I walked away from it at first, and then I had to have it and went back for it. I may have a thing for Tupperware ;).

Pyrex!! Oh wow, there was an abundance of Pyrex, a lot of Fire King as well, but I'm more partial to Pyrex. The prices were of course dealer prices. I didn't buy any. I'm truly looking for the Primary Colors set. Although I did pick up some Butterfly Gold the other day because it was a steal and would come in handy.

The set that I covet! It was quite worn though and for the price I wasn't willing to pay that.

It's sad that I can name all of the patterns of Pyrex. That would be thanks to a blog I read!

I didn't end up spending that much, but I think I found some pretty cool Mid Century items. Part 2 I will share my finds and some other items I saw and found cool!

Odds and Ends, and a Jewel.

I hit a few garage sales and a second day estate sale. I unfortunately didn't find a whole lot, but I finally found a SWAG LAMP! I have been searching for a reasonably priced on for months.

I found a Syroco wall planter, a paint by number, and a retro homemade wall hanging. Not sure exactly what you would call that, or what the correct term for it is? Best part is that it all only set me back $1 total.

Saving the best for last, my long awaited swag lamp! I have a thing for these lamps. I like the more mid century modern atomic looking ones, but I couldn't pass this one up!

The color is great, in excellent condition and even better the diffuser is intact as well! Hitting up some more garage sales tomorrow, lets hope for some more great finds!

Kidney Bean Ottoman!

Today, I ended up visiting my local thrift store. An all but disappointing trip! I stumbled upon a small kidney bean shaped ottoman! I had to have it. The legs on it are killer.

The gold feet are in decent condition, I may take a tip from another blog and do some work on them. Not sure yet. Maybe I'll save that for a rainy day. The vinyl is in decent condition as well aside from a small tear I think I can easily repair.

I had to go next door and browse around that thrift store too... I came out empty handed. But there were a couple interesting finds for the right person, it definitely wasn't my style:

As neat as this set was, I'm not partial to the laminate top look. The brass embellishment isn't visible on the coffee table picture. it is however on the end table, that was sort of eye catching and made the pieces unique.

One find...

Today, I ended up going to a second day estate sale. So obviously it was going to be picked over. In all honesty, it didn't seem picked over. But it wasn't my style of furniture.

I did find this very cool picture. I have never seen anything like this before.

I had to quick snap a picture of this cool garage door with the starburst on it! I'm all about starbursts. Sadly, I was taking a picture into the sun so it's dark.

Not a horrible day for an estate sale! Great sunny day for a drive.

Welcome to my blog!

Well I gave in and thought it would be a good idea to start blogging my mid century finds. I love mid century furniture, and anything else mid centuryesque. I feel like it's a good idea to archive my finds. I live in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area and I love it. I don't think I'll ever leave! I have read so many great blogs, that have inspired me to start this one. So I'll start off with what I thought was a very successful estate/garage sale. You know those estate sales, that are advertised... as an estate sale and it's basically just a garage full of stuff? This was one of those... But to be honest this was one of the better sales all summer! I couldn't believe that nothing was priced. Come to find out she was just giving this stuff away.

P.S. Sorry about the photos, Believe me quality is important... these are SO rushed, and so unprofessional. Next time... It will be an A-game.

Best find EVER! I have always had a thing for pole lamps. Only set me back a couple bucks! It was a mess when I bought it, covered in cigarette smoke and dust/dirt. She said her mom had it in the basement for years. It definitely showed.

Found this small silver condiment caddy

Loved the style of this pitcher, come to find out it's made in Michigan! Got to love the price... (free)

This was again a great deal (free) she was just giving this stuff away. I'd say these have to be '50s. One had minor damage, but the rest are mint.

They all had Starbursts!

I zipped right past this set of tables in the driveway, I figured they would be too expensive, she made me a great deal on them.

The underside of the tables have this marble design, which is very unique.

This was not from the estate sale from above. I got this for free too as a bonus for buying a desk at a thrift store (pictures later).
