68th Street Estate Sale

I went to an estate sale in the south end of Grand Rapids today, and when I say today... I mean at 4am. All this after I drove down the night before to sign the sign up sheet to secure a spot. Good thing I did because this sale was packed. Wall to wall vehicles down the side streets off the main road. It was a great little 60s ranch with two large sheds in the back. Not a whole lot of Mid Century Modern going on, but there was still quite a bit of vintage. I could tell it was going to be a pickers sale. This house was loaded. I had number 14, and I flew through everything, I walked away with believe it or not mostly glassware. I went through a phase of collecting glassware so I have pretty good knowledge of it as far as brand, quality, pattern, and overall design. Let me say this, there was a lot of quality glassware, not a lot of Fenton, but plenty of other notable glass makers. Walked away spending about $50, not bad!

A rotary dial phone? Yes... I have wanted one for years, this one was one of those you had to look past the filthiness of it a see it could be restored... Here's any idea of what it looked like. Imagine the whole phone covered in this filth, not just the cord. Notice the beauty of my cleaning job :P So... My pyrex/fireking knowledge is pretty good, but I can't figure out if that divided dish is Pyrex, or Fireking... I would love to get my hands on the Daisy Pyrex Cinderelka bowl set to match the divided fish!

Clean cord vs filthy cord. How does a cord even get that bad? Let's not go there.

I really don't particularly like carnival glass, I have a friend that collects it and I always pick it up for her, but this vase called my name the ruby glass coated in the carnival glaze just did something for me. Probably will be the only piece I ever own. And of course the two Shawnee planters (463) were a no brainer. Mid century pottery is kind of my thing.

Blue blue blue! I have a thing for blue apparently, the real steal was the rare Blue milk glass dish in the middle, again, I know my glassware, I have never encountered a blue milk glass piece like this.

I walked away with several mid cebtury kitchen utensils by Ecko as well. I just couldn't believe the amount if glassware, again I'm truly not an avid glassware collector, but when life gives you lemons right? I have never seen a sale of this magnitude of glassware. My next post will show the selection (understatement) of glassware this woman had.
